The first album of Nynke Laverman contains 7 poems of the Dutch poet J. J. Slauerhoff, which she translated into Frisian. She sings them on the Fado compositions that had already been composed by Custódio Castelo for the Portuguese singer Cristina Branco; doing so she introduced something new, the ‘Frisian Fado’. Beside these poems the album contains the song ‘Der wie ris’, with lyrics from Nynke and music from Waldemar Bastos. The album appeared in June 2004 and in the meantime it has turned gold. For the translated poems Nynke received a literary prize from the city of Leeuwarden.
