After the quiet melancholy of Sielesâlt Nynke Laverman shows more colours on her second album De Maisfrou. The lyrics about love and surrender were written especially for this project by the Frisian poet Albertina Soepboer and by Nynke herself. The music, inspired by the Spanish, Mexican and Argentinian idiom, is among others from Fernando Lameirinhas, Theo Nijland, Tiago Machado and Wende Snijders. The arrangements that Nynke developped together with her musicians Sytze Pruiksma, Ward Veenstra & Joël Groenewold and with arranger Sebastiaan Koolhoven, are surprising and are counterbalancing in a thrilling way her clear, sensual voice. An album full of southern temper with a sound that is very original and of its own.
