Seeljocht
Seeljocht (Frisian for sea light) is the artist-in-residence project of the Into The Great Wide Open festival 2011. A collective of like-minded musicians and visual artists from Northern Europe and North America came together at the island of Vlieland, which led to an intriguing mix of ambient, minimal music, spoken word, sound scapes, video and experimental sounds, both supported and empowered by the imagery of the island. The Seeljocht-collective consists musically of Greg Haines (piano), Sytze Pruiksma (percussion), Piiptsjilling (Mariska Baars - vocals, Romke Kleefstra – guitar effects, Rutger Zuydervelt - electronics, Jan Kleefstra - poetry), Nils Frahm (piano & synths), Peter Broderick (violin & vocals) and Heather Broderick (harp & vocals). Reinforced by video collective 33 1/3, that shot their alienate nature footage on the dunes of Vlieland.
Seeljocht was presented at Into The Great Wide Open 2011 (Vlieland) and was afterwards performed at the festivals Explore the North (Leeuwarden) and Le Guess Who? (Utrecht). The music is available online and on CD.
